The Freeport Concert Band traces its roots back to 1921 when Bill Dayton organized a band in Freeport, Long Island, New York.
Dayton led the band for 50 years, from 1921 to 1971.

For many years of the band’s existence, the guiding spirit was Stan Reich (1925-2001).
In addition to being a trumpet player, he served as president, executive director, personnel manager and historian.
