The Freeport Community Band is primarily a sight-reading band.

Except when preparing for a concert, we normally read 7-10 different compositions at every rehearsal just to become familiar with band repertoire, and for the enjoyment of playing together.

The compositions range from old standards to the relatively modern. We include marches, symphonic pieces for band, show/movie medleys, operatic overtures, folk songs, and much more.

Our library is quite extensive, containing over 2,000 selections. We are happy to take suggestions from the band members as to what compositions to read at rehearsals and perform at concerts.

We enjoy playing our instruments in a group setting, and many of us have been playing together for 30 or more years!

We always welcome new members! For information, contact us.

Membership in this organization shall be open to all qualified musicians with concert band experience and shall not be denied any person on the basis of race, color, religious or political beliefs, national origin, age or sexual orientation.

Come to one of our rehearsals and see!

(Bring your instrument -- the school supplies music stands!)
