The Freeport Community Band Salutes Our High School Musicians
Beginning in the fall of 2015, the Freeport Community Band opened its doors to the talented student musicians of the Freeport High School. The outpouring of interest and talent was extraordinary. Since their inclusion, these gifted students have brought with them a truly remarkable level of musicianship as well as friendship and comradely. We look forward to continuing our association with these talented high school musicians in the coming years.
Bob Raynor Memorial Award:
The Bob Raynor Memorial Award is presented to a Freeport High School senior who has demonstrated the most consistent support of the Freeport Community Band through attendance, performance, and musicianship. Participation in the Freeport Community Band provides additional musical experiences for the student while focusing on community service through performing with the band at local events. This experience fosters a life-long appreciation of music as well as an awareness of the value music provides to our local communities.
The first Bob Raynor Memorial Award was presented on June 9, 2016 to Samantha Cariello (pictured left with Freeport Community Band President Bill Rothchild, Conductor Sandra Vigliotti and FHS Band Director Mike La Sorsa). Congratulations Samantha!
