The Freeport Community Band traces its roots back to 1921 when Bill Dayton organized a band in Freeport, Long Island, New York.
The purpose of the Freeport Community Band is to make available to interested musicians experiences in band music of various stylistic periods, to give opportunities for developing techniques of sight reading and performing with a large ensemble, to give concerts for the enjoyment of the general public, and to demonstrate the broad spectrum of literature of the modern concert band.
Here we are at the 2011 Freeport Faculty and Adult Education Concert. (Visit our YouTube channel)
We are a community band whose members have quite diverse backgrounds and come from the counties of Queens, Brooklyn, Nassau, and Suffolk.
Spring 2013: Do you have concert band experience? All sections are open for membership, but we are especially looking for flute, drum and horn players. Contact us if you care to join.
